Hi Friends! Today I wanted to share something with you from my heart. It comes from a place of experience. I’ve seen it in my marriage, my parenting, my work, my family, my friendships….I’ve seen it in every relationship I have.

Any time there is another person involved, there will be tension. I’m not talking about “fighting” and “disagreement.” I’m referring to the natural existence of two differences…..

Two perspectives
Two genders
Two personalities
Two upbringings
Two roles
Two styles
Two histories
Two experiences

Because no two people are the same. There will always be differences and therefore a natural dynamic of tension. Embrace it. Accept it. Lean into it. Learn from it. And most of all leverage it for your good and God’s glory.

It shows up in the workplace when a boss doesn’t understand why the employee…… and the employee believes the boss is……

I’ve seen it in families. The husband needs respect. The wife needs to hear and see his love. They get stuck in the tension and allow it to drive a wedge.

Literally it exists in every relationship. Know that. And next time you find yourself confused or frustrated. Stop and ask yourself (and maybe them) – what does this look like from their perspective? What does it look like from mine? Identify the strengths of that perspective. Identify the limits of not seeing or knowing 2 perspectives exist.

Someone once told me:
In every situation there are 3 perspectives. Mine, theirs and reality!

The bible reminds us:
“He who answers a matter before he hears both sides, it is folly and shame to him.”
Proverbs 18:13
