I am angry, and I am doing something about it!

In December of 2020, I found myself teaching on three different occasions in rooms surrounded by young women who had or were wrestling with the idea that their life was not worth living.  My job was to help them dispel that lie!

Most of these women are between the ages of 16-25; but the truth is this thought pattern permeates every age group.  The year of the pandemic and the isolation it brought only magnified the problem.  As a minister, I have never fought so passionately and frequently against this lie of the enemy.

Please understand what I am about to say.  As Christians God not only equipped us with truth but with weapons to fight and win this battle.  Unfortunately, when we become greatly discouraged, depressed, or hopeless, we often lose the strength to fight.  We need someone to come alongside us to hold up our arms and encourage us in the battle.

This is not an embarrassment:  It is a reality!  That is why God wants us to be connected – in community – with other believers who can stand with us through those times.

To gain victory we must have a game plan:

  • First of all, let’s hold on to the truth together.  You are neither an accident nor an embarrassment to God.  God custom designed you with specific plans and a divine purpose for you in mind (Eph 2:10).   No matter how far any of us have strayed away, God is ALWAYS filled with grace and ready to give us a fresh start.  That’s WHO HE IS!
  • Secondly, God came to give us abundant life (John 10:10).  His plans for us are good not evil and they are to give us a hope and a future (Jer 29:11). Even when the circumstances are screaming loudly to the contrary – God is not a man that He would lie (Num 23:19).  Faith is holding on in the midst of the storm.  That is when calling a Godly friend, counselor, or life-coach can be most helpful.
  • Thirdly, armor up and pull out those weapons!  Ephesians 6 tells us what armor we need for the battle and 2 Corinthians 10 tells us that the weapons God gives us have divine power to destroy the schemes of the enemy.  Luke 11 tells us that we have the authority in the name of Jesus to bind up the enemy and break his hold on us.

Friends, if you can’t get glad, get mad!  We have power and authority over the enemy.  We simply have to know how to use it and begin to do so!

Perhaps you are not wrestling with the lie that “life is not worth living,” –  but you may know someone who is.  People can be very good at hiding these thoughts.  Be willing to be used of the Lord to be a friend who cares.  We are raising up a team of compassionate warriors who desire to be used by God in this hour of great need. We know many of you would like to join us in reaching this hurting generation.
