Wait-He’s Coming by Denise Dietz

At the time of this writing we are waiting for election results, resolution to the COVID crisis, fires to stop burning and new norms to emerge from historic shifts in our world. Yet, there’s a weightier, wait that exceeds them all!  Jesus is coming soon. As anticipation grows in my heart, I’m reminded…waiting is a lot like farming. Plant the seed, water it, wait, let it grow and enjoy a harvest.

We are promised this in our waiting…

“So don’t be impatient for the Lord to act; keep moving forward steadily in his ways, and he will exalt you at the right time. And when he does you will possess every promise, including your full inheritance.”  Psalm 37:34 (TPT)

John Piper shares this:

“Darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future looks blank. The temptation to quit is huge. Don’t. You are in good company… You will argue with yourself that there is no way forward. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive.”

Wait.    Pray without ceasing.     Hope.

It’s very near, so how should we anticipate Christ’s return?

  • We are to continue doing the important work that needs to be completed before Jesus returns—preach the gospel throughout the world!
  • We keep working on building His kingdom realizing that we don’t know exactly when Jesus will return.
  • We are to keep busy because neither Jesus’ delay nor His imminent arrival should be an excuse for idleness.
  • We remain prepared, realizing that each day is the possible day of Jesus’ return (1 Thessalonians 4:16–18).1

You can read more about preparing for the return of Christ here.

It’s worth the wait, friends!  Let’s choose to see our wait as an opportunity; to draw near to God, to honor Him by walking in His ways and growing in faith.

I’m so thankful to be in this “waiting room” with you!
